Location: Salle de séminaire Harvey 1, UCL Brussels

Time:

12:00 ”Updating visual space for motor control”

Abstract: To maintain a stable perception of the visual world, our brain must update our representation of visual space each time our eyes move. How does spatial memory compute the changing locations of remembered targets relative to the eyes when the eyes move? And how does the brain use a target’s location, stored in spatial memory, to guide repeated pointing movements when the eyes are looking in different directions? I will present behavioural data concerning how the brain estimates the size and direction of eye movements when updating spatial memory, and how the arm control system updates remembered target locations when programming multiple pointing movements to the same vanished target.
