Short Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Catanzaro graduated summa cum laude in Computer Science Engineering at the Universitá degli Studi di Palermo, Italy (2003). After being recipient of the prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship (2003-2004) and the Aspirant FNRS Fellowship (2005-2009), he was awarded the Ph.D. in Computer Science (Operations Research) by the Université Libre de Bruxelles (2008), for his studies in combinatorial optimization, network design and combinatorics of phylogenetics.
From 2009 to 2013, Dr. Catanzaro served as a Chargé de Recherches for the Belgian National Fund for Scientific Research (FRS-FNRS). During this period, he visited the Department of Statistics and Operations Research of the University of La Laguna (2009), the Tepper School of Business of Carnegie Mellon University (2010-2011), the Department of Computer Science of Reykjavik University (2010), the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Freie Universität Berlin (2010), the Department of Genetics and Evolution of the University of Geneva (2010), the Laboratoire d'Informatique, de Robotique et de Microélectronique de Montpellier LIRMM-CNRS (2012), and the Department of Computational Biology of Carnegie Mellon University (2012).
In 2013, Dr. Catanzaro was appointed Assistant Professor of Operations Research at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, where he was in charge of the courses of Combinatorial Optimization, Capita Selecta in Combinatorial Optimization (EORAS) and Foundation of Logistics System Engineering.
As of September 2014, Dr. Catanzaro joined the Louvain School of Management of the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL), where he is currently appointed Associate Professor of Operations Research. Dr. Catanzaro is currently a faculty member of the Center for Operations Research and Econometrics (CORE) of the UCL, a member of the Faculty Senate of the Louvain School of Management, and Chair of the Committee for the Bachelor Curriculum in Management Engineering.
