Version 2.0b12 ============== September 13, 1994. With Systems 7.0 and 7.0.1, version 2.0b11 still crashed sometimes when you deleted, cut, or pasted text. This bad error should finally be fixed once and for all. My apologies for the aggravation caused by these stupid mistakes in 2.0b10 and 2.0b11 - I shouldn't have tried to use unfamiliar Script Manager functions without reading all of the relevant documentation. The great debate rages on about whether or not the "Next Article" command and its keyboard shortcuts should return to the subject window at the ends of threads. Battle lines are being drawn on comp.sys.mac.comm. To placate the latest batch of outraged users who hate the change made in 2.0b10, there is a new checkbox option named "Return to subject window at end of thread" in the "General Options" preference topic. The default value is off - at the end of a thread, the "Next Article" command opens the first article in the next thread, as in 2.0b9 and earlier versions. If you prefer to have the "Next Article" command return to the subject window at the ends of threads, as in 2.0b10 and 2.0b11, turn the option on. If you try to open a NewsWatcher preferences file in the Finder while NewsWatcher is already running, the program now presents an alert telling you that you must quit the program and restart it to switch preferences. The alert has two buttons: Quit and Cancel. When you send a message, with some kinds of error conditions, NewsWatcher incorrectly claims that the message was posted OK but there was an error trying to mail it, when actually the error was in posting. Fixed.
