I completed my MSc in Applied Mathematics from University of Dhaka (DU), Bangladesh, under the supervision of Professor Amal Krishna Halder. I obtained a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 2008 from Keio University (KEIO), Japan, under the supervision of Professor Shinnosuke Obi. I am working as an Associate Professor in mathematics of Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh. Currently, I am doing postdoctoral research in the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL), under the supervision of Professor Jean-François Remacle. |

Research overview |
In PhD research, the fully mesh less vortex method (VM) has been used to simulate high Reynolds number turbulent flows. Thesis title is Development of a Fast Vortex Method for Fluid Flow Simulation using Special-Purpose Computers. The VM calculation has been accelerated by a factor of 1000 without loss of numerical accuracy with the simultaneous use of Fast Multipole Method (FMM) and Special-purpose computer; MDGRAPE-3. MDGRAPE-3 has been exclusively designed for molecular dynamics simulations. I have profound knowledge in numerical analysis scientific computing, which I have studied and taught for more than 15 years.
In present research, I am developing an algorithm for parallel mesh generation and adaptation for complex geometries (e.g. Landing gear and 3D wing). The main goal is to generate huge meshes (>50 M nodes) and parallel adaptation to make a good quality of elements. The adaptation of boundary layer mesh (e.g. 3D wing with 1st bending mode) will be performed. In addition, the present algorithm can be applied to adaptive Boundary Layer mesh, Ocean Modelling and Fluid Structure Interaction problems. All computations are performed in parallel computers with Open MPI and parallel MAdLib. I am also looking into the modeling of fluid-structure interaction problems. In particular I experiment partitioned methods for applications involving large structural deformations. Possible applications are the modeling of arterial flows or more generally the behavior of thin structures in a flow.br
I'm also developing parallel MAdLib, an open source parallel mesh adaptation library which transiently adapts a tetrahedral mesh by local modifications. Mesh adaptivity can be required in problems involving large displacements or deformations of objects. For instance, in fluid-structure simulations in which the structure is highly deformable, the common node relocation techniques cannot always provide an acceptable mesh. Mesh adaptivity is also a strong tool to concentrate the resources on particular parts of the domain and save resources elsewhere.
Parallel mesh adaptation procedures, mesh adaptation on geometries (using the geometry module of Gmsh) and anisotropic meshes are also considered. Here are some animations of adapting meshes: |
