Lecture series: Design in Extreme Robotics
February - March 2023
Nowadays, robots are not only
working in production factories, but are also progressively leaving
structured environments in order work in extreme conditions.
Indeed, there are robots doing surgery inside human bodies, handling
nuclear materials, surviving in hostile environments for weeks and
months, physically interacting with disabled people, running on complex
grounds, etc.
In this Lecture Series, the
Institute of Mechanics, Materials, and Civil Engineering at UCLouvain
will host some experts in this field for delivering seminars
particularly highlighting the design challenges of such extreme robots.
They will cover topics as diverse as morphological optimization,
material selection, embodied intelligence, soft vs. rigid actuation,
kinematic redundancy, dimensioning, etc.
